Overview
This Privacy Policy informs you in accordance with Art. 13 and 14 GDPR about how AfroPortal (afroportal.de) processes your personal data. AfroPortal is a community platform for Africans in Germany, operated as a Kleingewerbe (small trade business). Operator details: see Impressum.
Hosting — Supabase
We use Supabase (Supabase Inc., 970 Trestle Glen Rd., Oakland, CA 94610, USA) as technical infrastructure for database services and user authentication. Supabase processes all user data (names, email addresses, passwords, profile data) on its servers.
Data transfer is based on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) pursuant to Art. 46 Para. 2 lit. c GDPR. We have concluded a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with Supabase pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.

Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland; parent company: Google LLC, USA) to analyse user behaviour.
Google Analytics collects cookies, IP addresses, page views and click paths. Data is transferred to Google servers, secured by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework pursuant to Art. 45 GDPR. IP anonymisation is enabled. The data retention period is 2 months by default and may have been extended to up to 14 months in the GA4 settings.

Cookie Management

Google OAuth (Sign In with Google)
You can sign in using your Google account. Google transmits your name, email address and profile picture to AfroPortal.

User Registration and Account
We collect: full name, email address, encrypted password.

Connect Feature and User Profiles
By voluntarily participating in the Connect feature, your name, location, languages, interests and profile description will be displayed publicly.
Special categories of data: Your profile may contain information about ethnic origin or nationality — these are special categories of data under Art. 9 Para. 1 GDPR. Processing is based on your explicit consent (Art. 9 Para. 2 lit. a GDPR) through the voluntary provision of this data.

AI Assistant (AfroPortal Assistant)
The AfroPortal Assistant transmits your requests to external AI service providers for processing. Depending on the model used, data may be transferred to providers in the USA or other third countries. Transfer is based on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) pursuant to Art. 46 Para. 2 lit. c GDPR. Please do not enter sensitive personal data into the chat.
