Built for Every African in Germany. At Every Stage. At Every Age.
Whether you arrived last month or last decade — whether you were born here or flew here — AfroPortal is yours.
You do not have to be new to feel like you are missing something.
Some of us arrived in Germany recently, still learning the system, still finding our footing, still searching for a face that looks like ours in a city that feels unfamiliar.
Some of us were born here, raised between two worlds, holding a German passport and an African heart, and wondering where exactly we belong.
Some of us are elders who have carried this community on our backs for decades, with no platform, no visibility, no recognition.
AfroPortal was built for all of us.
One Home. For Every African in Germany.
AfroPortal is Germany's most comprehensive digital hub for the African community — not for one type of African, not for one generation, not for one city, not for one moment in your journey.
AfroPortal is for every single one of you.
Community First
Every decision at AfroPortal starts with one question: does this serve our community? Not investors. Not algorithms. Not metrics. The mother in Hamburg looking for a Ghanaian supermarket. The teenager in Munich who wants to connect with other young Africans. The entrepreneur in Berlin who needs their first 100 customers. The elder in Frankfurt whose community group has been invisible online for too long. They are why we build.
Cultural Pride
Being African in Germany is not a complication. It is not a backstory. It is an identity to carry with pride — the richness of our food, our music, our languages, our traditions, our ways of being in the world. AfroPortal exists to celebrate and preserve that identity, not despite living in Germany, but within it. Our children should grow up knowing exactly who they are.
Radical Accessibility
Information is power. And power in our community should be shared, not gatekept. Every guide, every listing, every resource on AfroPortal is free — because the knowledge that helps you navigate Germany belongs to every African here, not just those who already know the right people.
It Started With a Feeling Every African in Germany Knows
AfroPortal was founded in 2024 by L.K. Sarpong — an African who experienced firsthand what it means to search for community, information, and connection in Germany and come up short.
The frustration was not unique. Ask any African in Germany — the newcomer and the long-term resident, the student and the professional, the parent and the young person — and they will describe a version of the same gap. The information exists, but it is scattered. The community exists, but it is hard to find. The businesses exist, but they are invisible. The stories exist, but nobody is telling them.
